Lenses:
Everyone has different visual needs, different lifestyles, and different budgets. There are so many lens options today to allow for a perfect lens for every situation. Choosing the right lenses is the most important factor in selecting eyewear. After all, the main purpose of eyewear is to help you see clearly and comfortably.

There are three main factors in your lens purchase: lens material, lens design, and lens coatings/treatments. Each factor will have an impact on the optical performance, cosmetic appearance, and cost of your lenses.

Lens material: Glass, Plastic, Polycarbonate (shatter resistant), High-Index (thinner profile), Trivex (new thin light lens), Photochromic/Transition (darken & lighten), Polarized (eliminate glare in sun glasses).

Lens Coating/Treatment: Anti-reflective (cuts glare, removes irritating and unappealing reflections from the lens), Ultra-Violet (U.V.) coating, Scratch Resistant, Tints, Edge Polish

Lens Design: Single Vision, Bifocal, Trifocal, Progressive (no line), Computer, Business (progressive for in the office)

Frames: Many factors contribute to the price of a frame. Differences in materials, colouration, craftsmanship, country of origin, quality assurance, and design all affect the price.

Material costs vary from the relatively inexpensive plastics to the high costs of titanium metals. The craftsmanship, or detail, is what makes each frame unique. Hand tooling on parts such as the nose pads, temples, and temple tips all add to the cost. As with clothing and other accessories you sometimes pay a premium for designer names. This added cost not only covers the “brand name” but also guarantees a level of quality.
