Lasik
Laser refractive surgery is a surgical procedure that corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The most common procedure currently used is LASIK (Laser Assisted in situ Keratomileusis).
This is a surgical procedure, performed by an ophthalmologist, to permanently reshape the cornea to reduce the need for glasses or contacts.
University Eye Clinic eye doctors co-manage refractive surgical procedures with the best surgeons in the area, providing pre and post-operative care. Before referring you to one of the areas top surgical centres we will perform a thorough pre-operative examination including corneal thickness measurements to assess candidacy.
After your surgery, University Eye Clinic doctors will conduct a series of follow-up visits throughout the year to check your progress. All visits are covered by the LASIK fee. Those who have had successful LASIK procedures should continue to have annual comprehensive eye exams to check for diseases such as glaucoma or macular degeneration.
